Timing chain assembly, assembling

Note! Some variation in the illustrations may occur, but the essential information is always correct.

Balance shaft assembly





Install the following items:
- the bearing on the shaft
- place the position setting tool between the balance shaft and the bearing. 999 7248 Position setter 999 7248 Position Setter
- carefully tap the bearing down to its limit position.999 7099 Drift 999 7099 Drift








Install the following items:
- the front oil seal.
- the front bearing.

Carefully pull in the balance shaft to the stop. 999 7246 Press tool 999 7246 Press Tool
Remove tool: 999 7246 Press tool 999 7246 Press Tool and 999 7247 Drift 999 7247 Drift.





Install the following items:
- the 3 x M8 screws. Tighten Refer to: Tightening Torque
- the holder.




Install the front gear, 1 x M10. Tighten. Refer to: Tightening Torque





Install the following items:
- the cover over the balance shaft
- the 8 x M6 screws. Tighten. Refer to: Tightening Torque

Installing the chain





Note! Adjust the camshaft chain's color marking to the marking on the gear.

Install the chain.





Install the following items:
- The 2 x rails, 3 x M8. Tighten Refer to: Tightening Torque
- chain tensioner, 2 x M6 screws. Tighten. Refer to: Tightening Torque
remove the drift from the chain tensioner.




Turn the crankshaft slightly to reduce the slack of the chain.

Front cover





Note! The front cover must be cleaned before installing. Use a razor blade or plastic scraper.

Apply liquid gasket 307 57050 as illustrated.

Note! Minimum 1 mm bead diameter.

Note! Install the front cover within 5 minutes (curing time liquid gasket).




Fold the front panel in at the lower edge.





Install the following items:
- the 23 x M8 screws for the front side. Tighten. Refer to: Tightening Torque
- the 2 x M8 screws for the oil sump. Tighten. Refer to: Tightening Torque





Install the following items:
- the engine bracket and idler pulley. Tighten. Refer to: Tightening Torque
- idler pulley. Tighten Refer to: Tightening Torque

Caution! The washer must be correctly installed.
