Exhaust camshaft position sensor, replacing

Removal of position sensor, cylinder 1, 3, 5 and 7 (bank 1)




Lift the upper coolant hose out of its mounting and bend it aside.

Remove:
- the connector from the position sensor
- the 1 M6 screw
- the position sensor.

Installation of position sensor, cylinder 1, 3, 5 and 7 (bank 1)

Note! For tightening torques, see: Tightening torque, B8444S Tightening Torque.

Install:
- the position sensor; tighten the screw
- the connector for the position sensor
- the upper coolant hose in its mounting.

Removing the upper cross stay





Remove:
- the 4 screws at the suspension turrets
- the screws of the upper engine mount on the engine
- the upper cross stay.

Removing the upper rear engine cover
Remove the upper rear engine cover by pulling it straight up.

Removal of position sensor, cylinder 2, 4, 6 and 8 (bank 2)





Remove:
- the M6 screw at the heat shield of the position sensor
- the connector from the position sensor
- the 1 M6 screw
- the position sensor.

Installation of position sensor, cylinder 2, 4, 6 and 8 (bank 2)

Note! For tightening torques, see: Tightening torque, B8444S Tightening Torque.

Install:
- the position sensor; tighten the screw
- the connector for the position sensor
- the heat shield of the position sensor; tighten the screw.

Installing the upper rear engine cover
Position the upper rear engine cover and press it into place in the mountings.

Installing the upper cross stay





Install:
- the cross stay between the suspension turrets
- the 4 screws in the suspension turrets; tighten
- the screw of the cross stay mount on the upper engine mount; tighten.

Check
Start the engine and check the function.
