Timing chain assembly, dismantling

Note! Some variation in the illustrations may occur, but the essential information is always correct.






Preparatory work


Remove the following items:
- Intake manifold/-gasket see: Intake manifold/gasket, replacing, B8444S Service and Repair
- the vibration damper. See: Crankshaft seal, front, replacing, B8444S, TF-80SC AWD Service and Repair

Front cover, removal






Remove the following items:
- the engine bracket and idler pulley
- the idler pulley.






Remove the following items:
- the 25 x screws in the front cover
- the front cover. Discard the gaskets.





Install the position setting tool, T9997235, crankshaft position setting tool, on the crankshaft and guide on the engine block.





Install the camshaft adjustment tools T9997236, camshaft position setting tool.

Camshaft chain removal






Remove the following items:
- position setting tool, T9997235, crankshaft position setting tool
- chain tensioner, 2 x M6, lock the chain tensioner using a drift
- the 2 x rails.





Remove the chain.

Balance shaft removal






Remove the following items:
- the cover over the balance shaft
- the 8 x M6 screws.





Remove the front gear.






Remove the following items:
- the 3 x M8 screws.
- the holder.






Remove the following items:
- the 3 x M8 screws.
- the holder.





Use tool T9997245 and T9997246.
