Solenoid valve compressor, replacing

Preparatory work

Draining the air conditioning (A/C) system

Warning! Follow the safety instructions for work on air conditioning systems. See: Refrigerant, safety regulations Technician Safety Information.

Read the instructions covering slow and fast leaks. See: Oil air conditioning (A/C) system, filling Oil Air Conditioning (A/C) System, Filling.

Caution! Always use new O-rings lubricated with compressor oil.

Note! The O-rings in the pipes and quick-release connectors must always be replaced when replacing the compressor.

Note! Always plug the pipes and connections when working on the climate control system.

Remove the compressor. See Compressor, replacing, B8444S Service and Repair.

Removal

Removing the solenoid valve





Caution! Always ensure cleanliness when working with the solenoid valve and surrounding components.

Note! Position the compressor with the solenoid valve facing upwards to prevent leaking compressor oil.

Remove:
- the solenoid valve connector
- the 1x screw. Remove the electrical cable mounting for the solenoid valve. Note how the electrical cable was routed
- the snap ring.

Hint: Pry up the solenoid valve. Use a screwdriver (as illustrated).

Pull the solenoid valve straight up. Remove the solenoid valve.

Installation

Note! For tightening torques, see: Tightening torque [1][2]Body and Frame.

Installing the solenoid valve

Hint: Lubricate the O-rings on the solenoid valve. Use compressor oil.

Install:
- the solenoid valve by twisting backwards and forwards, under light pressure, until it bottoms enough for the groove for the snap ring to be visible.
- the snap ring
- the electrical cable for the solenoid valve in its mounting as noted. Tighten the screw
- the connector

Finishing

Installing the compressor and test running
Install the compressor. See: Compressor, replacing, B8444S Service and Repair.
Test run the compressor. Check the function.
