Troubleshooting

Checking wheel sensor and toothed wheel




- Ignition off
- Remove the wheel for better accessibility.
Check that the wheel sensor is mounted close to the spindle/hub. There must not be any dirt between the sensor and the contact surface.
Check that the toothed wheel is properly mounted and is free from damage (all teeth intact, no scratches or deformity, etc.)
Remedy as necessary.

Was a malfunction detected?

Yes - Verification

No - Checking brakes and wheel bearings

Checking brakes and wheel bearings

Hint: A binding brake can block one or both wheels when driving. This leads to loss of the wheel sensor signal.

Check that the brake caliper does not bind, thereby blocking the wheels.
Check that the wheel bearing of the wheel is question has no play and does not bind.
Remedy as necessary.

Hint: After carrying out the repair, check that the fault has been remedied.








- Ignition off
- Reinstall the components, reconnect the connectors etc.
- Ignition on
- Test drive the car. See Test Drive Form (DSTC (dynamic stability and traction control) /brake control module), description Test Drive Form (DSTC (Dynamic Stability And Traction Control) /Brake Control Module), Description.
Check the ABS warning lamp during the test drive.
If the fault has been remedied the lamp will go out when the speed exceeds 20 km/h.
If the warning lamp does not go out, return to the workshop and read off the diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).

Does the ABS warning lamp go out and remain unlit?

Yes - VERIFIED

No - VERIFICATION FAILED
