Troubleshooting
Troubleshooting BCM-C008216
Checking the battery voltage
- Start the engine and let it idle.
- Connect a voltmeter between the positive and negative battery terminals.
The voltage should be normal system voltage.
If voltage is low, check the charging system as described in relevant information.
Was the voltage too low?
Yes - DONE
No - Checking the voltage feed
-------------------------------------------------
Checking the voltage feed
- Ignition off
Check the connector of the brake control module (BCM) for contact resistance and oxidation.
Check the voltage feed cable between the brake system fuse in the engine compartment relay/fuse box and control module connector terminal #A32 (#32) for short circuit to ground.
Hint: With the ignition on and the voltmeter connected between terminals #A32 (#32) and #A47 (#A47) on the breakout box, the voltmeter should show battery voltage.

Was a malfunction detected?
Yes - Verification
No - Checking system voltage
-------------------------------------------------
Checking system voltage
- Ignition off
- Reinstall the connectors, components etc.
- Ignition on
- Read off the voltage feed to the brake control module (BCM).
The voltage should be normal system voltage.
Is the voltage OK?
OK - FAULT FOUND
Not OK - Troubleshooting information
-------------------------------------------------
Verification
Hint: After carrying out the repair, check that the malfunction has been remedied.
- Ignition off
- Reinstall the connectors, components etc.
- Ignition on
Read off the voltage to the brake control module (BCM).
The voltage should be battery voltage.
OK - FAULT FOUND
Not OK - Troubleshooting information

Fault-tracing information
The fault should have been detected and remedied. As this is not the case fault-tracing has failed.
Exit fault-tracing for this diagnostic trouble code (DTC) or make another attempt.
Do you want to exit fault-tracing?
Yes - Exit fault-tracing
No - Attempt New Test
