Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Information

Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information ECM-U014082

Condition
Central electronic module (CEM) is continuously supplied with necessary information from the Central electronic module (CEM).
The control module checks the communication with the Central electronic module (CEM).
The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored if the control module detects that:
- No communication with the Central electronic module (CEM).
The control module's test for the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) starts in the event of:
- Engine running.

Note! The control module can only detect the fault once the test has been started and the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored when the conditions are met.

Substitute value
- Cruise control is disengaged when the fault is active.

Possible source
- Fault-trace the central electronic module (CEM).
- Open-circuit or short-circuit in the wiring for the control area network (CAN).
- Short-circuit to ground in the communication cable.
- Short-circuit to supply voltage in the communication cable.
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the terminals.
- Short-circuit in connections.
- The Engine control module (ECM) is not intended for this vehicle, for example, it is a used control module with other software/hardware.

Hint: If several diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) are generated in the central electronic module (CEM) for communication errors with other control modules in intermediate speed network, this indicates a common fault in the Control area network. See wiring diagram for vehicle model in question.
