Fault Code 21, Tester Code 54

1. Locate throttle position sensor at passenger side rear of engine near strut tower.
2. Disconnect sensor electrical connector, then measure resistance between TPS terminals as follows:
a. Between terminals 1 and 2 reading should be approximately 2100 ohms with throttle closed.
b. Between terminals 2 and 3 reading should be approximately 1000 ohms with throttle closed.
c. Between terminals 2 and 3 reading should increase from 1000-2775 ohms as throttle is opened.
d. If readings are not as specified, replace TPS.
3. Reconnect TPS electrical connector, then measure voltage readings with ignition switch in run position as follows:
a. Between terminals 1 and 2 reading should be 4.5-5.5 volts.
b. Between terminals 2 and 3 voltage reading should rise fluidly as throttle is opened.
c. If readings are not as specified, check spring connectors, sensor wires to the ECU and ECU terminals 3 and 9.
d. If sensor, connectors and wiring check good, replace ECU and retest.
