Propeller Shaft Installation

Propeller Shaft Installation

NOTE: Wrap the length of each propeller shaft with cardboard, at least 5 mm thick to protect the carbon fiber shaft during removal and installation, before removing the propeller shaft.

1. Set the No. 1 propeller shaft (A) to the transfer companion flange by flexing the No. 2 joint (B), then install the propeller shaft to the vehicle.

2. Aligning the reference marks (A) you made during the removal procedure. Then install the new mounting nuts (B) finger tight.

3. Install the center support bearing mounting bolts. Make sure you use new bolts.

4. Set the No. 2 propeller shaft (A) to the rear differential companion flange (B) by aligning the reference marks (C) you made during the removal procedure. Then install the new flange bolts (D) to the specified torque.
NOTE: When replacing the propeller shaft or the rear differential, align the factory reference marks (E).

5. Tighten the No. 1 propeller shaft mounting nuts to the specified torque.

6. Remove the cardboard wrapping from the propeller shaft.

7. Turn the arrow (A) toward the front of the vehicle, and install the No. 1 propeller shaft protector (B).

8. Install a new gasket (A), then install the muffler (C) and exhaust pipe B.

9. If you installed a new propeller shaft, test-drive the vehicle at 55 mph (88 km/h), and check for noise or vibration. If there is a noise or vibration, rotate the propeller shaft 180 degrees from its current alignment with the rear differential companion flange, then recheck.
