Expansion Block/Orifice Tube: Service and Repair

Restrictor, Removing And Installing

Removing
- Discharge A/C refrigerant system.
- Remove plenum cover.

- Unscrew connection -A- (tightening torque: 15 Nm).
- Pull restrictor -B- out of refrigerant line (e.g. using long nose pliers)

Installing
Installation is the reverse order of removal, observe notes and tightening torque (see removing notes)

NOTE:
- When replacing restrictor, observe color of restrictor and only install restrictor with same color (e.g. white or yellow), restrictors with different colors have different diameters in restrictor hole.

- Install restrictor -B- correctly (arrow on restrictor must face evaporator).
- Make sure that O-ring -C- (7.5 mm x 1.5 mm) is properly seated in the groove.
- Replace O-Ring-seal -D- (10.8 mm x 1.8 mm).
- Seal all open connections.
- The restrictor must fit in refrigerant line without play.
- Before installing O-ring for restrictor, lubricate lightly with refrigerant oil.
- Install refrigerant lines free of stress.
- Check position of refrigerant lines to evaporator, they should not come in contact with other components.

- Install all removed components again.
- Evacuate and recharge refrigerant circuit.
