Safety Precautions

WARNING:
To reduce the risk of personal injury and/or damage to the fuel injection and ignition system, always observe the following:
- Only disconnect and reconnect wires for injection and ignition system, including test leads, when ignition is turned off.
- If engine is to be cranked at starting RPM without starting (e.g. for compression testing), disconnect connector from ignition coils and from fuel injectors.
- It is possible that the control module will recognize a malfunction and store a DTC during some tests. After completing all tests and repairs, DTC memory should therefore be checked and erased if necessary.
- Always switch ignition off before cleaning engine.
- The battery should only be disconnected and reconnected when the ignition is turned off, since otherwise the Engine Control Module (ECM) can be damaged.

If special test equipment is required during test drive, observe the following:

WARNING:
- To reduce the risk of accident, always proceed as follows during road tests:

Use of instrument in Audi TT Coupe:
- Use only the VAS5051 or VAG1551 to read measuring value blocks. Always secure the tester to the rear seat and have it operated from there by a second technician.
- Due to size constraints, the passenger seat should be adjusted as far forward as possible and it's seatback should be adjusted to the most forward engaged position using the hand wheel. Do not use the seatback release lever for this.

Audi TT Roadster:
- Use only the VAG1552 with deactivated passenger side airbag in the Audi TT Roadster.
- Deactivate passenger-side airbag using key switch in the glove compartment.
- Re-activate passenger-side airbag after completing work.

- Fuel system is under pressure! Place a cloth around connection point before opening system. Then release pressure by carefully loosening connection point.
