Instrument Panel Vents and Air Ducts

Windshield Defroster Vent Intermediate Piece

Removing

- Remove the instrument panel.

- Remove the mounting bracket for the brake pedal (and clutch pedal) from the instrument panel cross member.

- Loosen hex nuts - A - for the left instrument panel cross member and unscrew them by approx. 15 mm.





- Remove hex nuts - B - for the right instrument panel cross member.

- Remove the connecting screws between the instrument panel cross member and the window cross member (in the passenger compartment) and the connecting screws between the instrument panel cross member and the plenum chamber (between the electronics box and the window cross member in the plenum chamber).

- Carefully pull the instrument panel cross member back until it is in contact with the nuts and is still sitting on the threaded bolt on the right.

- Remove intermediate piece - A - from instrument panel cross member - B -.





- Remove intermediate piece - A -.

Installing

• When installing the instrument panel, make sure that the intermediate piece for defrost is seated properly on the defroster vent and does not pinch the vent.

• After installing the instrument panel, check the output direction and distribution of the air flow from the defroster vent to the windshield.

Left Front Footwell Vent

Removing

- Remove the glove compartment and the center console.

- Remove support - A - for the instrument panel cross member (passenger side on the center tunnel).





- Remove screws - A - and - B - between support - C - and the A/C unit.





- Remove support - C - for the instrument panel cross member (driver side on the center tunnel).

- Remove both intermediate pieces to the air guide to the rear footwell vent.

- Label both connectors - A - and - B - to the left footwell vent temperature sensor (G261) and the right footwell vent temperature sensor (G262) (danger of mix-up).

- Disconnect connectors - A - and - B - from the footwell vent temperature sensors.





- Remove bolts - C -.

- Remove the wiring harness from footwell vent - D - if necessary.

- Pull the footwell vent slightly backward and remove it in the direction of the passenger footwell.

Installing

- Insert the footwell vent with tab - A - in the mount of A/C unit - B -.





- Reinstall all components in the reverse order.
