Water Pump: Service and Repair






Coolant Pump

Removing

- Bring the lock carrier into service position. Radiator Support

- Remove front coolant pipe. Refer to => [ Front Coolant Pipe ] Front Coolant Pipe.

- Disconnect lower coolant hose - arrow - from the radiator and drain residual coolant.






After disconnecting the coolant hose, lock carrier can be pulled farther forward.

- Disconnect coolant hoses at coolant regulator housing.

- Remove bolts - arrows -.






- Remove coolant thermostat housing.

- Disconnect coolant hose - 1 -.






- Remove bolts - arrows -.

- Remove coolant pump housing toward front, pay attention to driveshaft for coolant pump while doing this.

- Remove driveshaft - arrow - for coolant pump from guide on oil pump.






- Remove bolts - arrows -.






- Remove coolant pump - 2 - from thermostat housing - 1 -.

Installing

Replace seals and O-rings.

Secure all hose connections using hose clamps appropriate for the model type.

- Insert driveshaft - arrow - for coolant pump into oil pump mount on engine.






- Slide coolant pump into mounts on upper section of oil pan.

To connect drive flange onto hex head of driveshaft, reach with the finger into the lower pipe connection of the coolant pump and twist at impeller until coolant pump can be inserted completely.

Further installation is performed in reverse order of removal, noting the following:

- Install coolant regulator. Refer to => [ Coolant Thermostat ] Coolant Thermostat.

- Install front coolant pipe. Refer to => [ Front Coolant Pipe ] Front Coolant Pipe.

- Install lock carrier with attachments.

- Place torque support on rubber buffer for torque support and tighten bolts - arrows -.






- Install front bumper.

- Fill the coolant. Refer to => [ Filling ] Procedures.

- Adjust headlamps.
