Water Pump: Service and Repair






Coolant Pump

Removing

- Drain coolant => [ Cooling System, Draining and Filling ] Procedures.

- Bring lock carrier into service position => [ Lock Carrier, Moving into Service Position ] Lock Carrier, Moving into Service Position.

- Separate electrical connector - 1 - for mass air flow (MAF) sensor (G70).





- Disconnect air duct hose - 4 - at intake manifold.

- Unhook retainer for connections - 2 - and - 3 - at upper part of air filter housing.

- Remove bolts - arrows -.

- Remove upper part of right air filter housing.

- Remove air duct - 1 -.





- Remove bolts - arrows -.

- Remove lower section of right air filter housing.

Place a cloth under separation point to catch escaping coolant.

- Disconnect coolant hose - arrow - at right on engine.





- Carefully pull the engine cover at the rear and middle upward and off - arrows 1 -.





- Then, pull the engine cover forward and off from intake manifold - arrows 2 -.

Before removing ribbed belt, mark the turning direction on it with chalk or a felt tip pen. A reversed direction of rotation can cause damage to the belt under operating conditions.





- To relieve tension on ribbed belt, pivot tensioner in direction of - arrow -, using a 30 mm box-end wrench.

- Remove ribbed belt and release tensioning device.

- Remove bolts - arrows - and remove belt pulley.





- Remove bolts - arrows - for coolant pump and remove coolant pump.





Installing

Installation is in reverse order of removal, note the following:

Replace seals.

Secure all hose connections using hose clamps appropriate for the model type.

- Install ribbed belt => [ Ribbed Belt ] Ribbed Belt.

- Install lock carrier with attachments

- Install front bumper cover.

- Deactivate vehicle lifting mode.

- Fill with coolant => [ Filling ] Procedures.
