Washer Fluid Line, Repairing

Smooth Line

Smooth lines with a diameter of 5 x 1 mm or 6 x 1 mm can be replaced with an Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer (EPDM).

- Trim and remove the damaged sections of line.





- Select the appropriate EPDM line - 2 - and cable tie.

- Cut a length of EPDM line - 2 - so that the ends of the smooth lines - 1 and 2 - can be pushed approximately 10 mm into the EPDM line - 2 -.

- Secure with the cable ties - 1 - as illustrated.





- Check for function and leaks.

Corrugated Line

Corrugated lines can be replaced with heat shrink sleeves.

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Hot Air Gun (VAS 1978/14A) from the Wiring Harness Repair Set (VAS 1978 B).

Air Hose Pliers (VAS 6228)

Procedure





- Cut out the damaged part of the washer fluid line with the (VAS 6228).

- Connect the ends - 1 and 4 - of the washer fluid line with connector pieces - 2 and 3 -.

- Slide the heat shrink sleeve - 5 - over an end of the washer fluid line and connect the connector pieces with each other.

- Slide the heat shrink sleeve over the washer fluid connector pieces.

- After sliding on, the heat shrink sleeve must be shrunk using the (VAS 1978/14A).

The heat shrink sleeve must be heated from the center outward until it seals completely.

Set the (VAS 1978/14A) to the correct temperature according to the operating instructions.

When shrinking, ensure no other lines, plastic parts or insulation material is damaged by the hot nozzle.

- Check for function and leaks.
