Adjusting Shim S6 for Positioning Center Differential, Determining

This adjustment is required when the following components are replaced:

Transmission cover

Spacer sleeve

Spur gear

Tapered roller bearing on the spur gear

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Ruler (1 Set = 2 Pieces) (T 40100)

Digital depth gauge (for example, (VAS 6087))

The outer race / tapered roller bearing for the gear wheel mounting is installed inside the transmission cover.

The spur gear and the spacer sleeve - 1 - are installed.





- Mount the (T40100) on the clean joint surface on the transmission cover.

- Measure from the spacer sleeve - 1 - to the (T40100) using the digital depth gauge - 2 - (for example, digital depth gauge (VAS 6087)). Press the spur gear downward, toward the transmission cover, in direction of - arrow -.

In the example, dimension - A1a - = 5.13 mm

- Add the height of the (T 40100) to this measurement.






Determine shim according to table.






Allocate adjustment shims, refer to the electronic parts catalog ETKA.

- The thickness of the shim S6 in this example is 0.91 mm.
