Brake Pedal Mounting Bracket
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1410)
• Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1331)
Removing
- Remove cover on the driver side.
- move adjustable steering column all the way back (opposite direction of travel)
- Disconnect accelerator module connector - 1 -.
- Remove the brake lamp switch - 2 -. Refer to => [ Brake Light Switch ] Service and Repair.
- Remove the brake lamp sensor - 2 -. Refer to => [ Brake Lamp Sensor ] Service and Repair
- Disconnect brake pedal from brake booster. Refer to=> [ Brake Booster ] Service and Repair
- Disconnect connector - 1 - on Clutch Pedal Switch (F36).
- Disconnect connector - 1 - for Clutch Pedal Switch (F194).
- Remove multi-point socket head bolts - 1 -.
- Remove multi-point socket head bolts - 1 - and - 3 -
Tightening specification 25 Nm.
- Remove tower brace - 2 -.
• Do not remove brake fluid reservoir.
- Remove brake fluid reservoir locking bolt - 1 -.
- Disconnect connector - 1 -
- Press reservoir to side and remove fasteners - 1 -.
- Press reservoir to side and remove fasteners - 1 -.
• Only affects vehicles with manual transmission.
- Remove hex socket head bolt - 1 -, tightening specification 25 Nm.
- Remove mounting bracket.
Remove gas pedal
Installing
Installation is the reverse of removal, with special attention to the following:
- First thread pins into mounting bracket and attach brake booster.
- Then install multi-point socket head bolts - 1 -
Clip brake pedal together with brake booster. Refer to => [ Brake Booster ] Service and Repair
- Hold ball head of push rod in front of mounting and push brake pedal in direction of brake booster, so the ball head locates audibly.
- Brake light switch, installing. Refer to=> [ Brake Light Switch ] Service and Repair
- Install the brake lamp sensor. Refer to => [ Brake Lamp Sensor ] Service and Repair.
