Brake Pedal
Removing
- Move the seat all the way back as far as it will go.
- Switch ignition off.
- Remove the storage compartment under the instrument panel on the driver side.
- Disconnect the connector - A - from the left footwell vent temperature sensor (G261) - B -.
- Remove the bolt - D -.
- Remove the footwell vent - E -.
- Disconnect the connector from the brake lamp switch (F).
- Remove the brake lamp switch. Refer to => [ Brake Lamp Switch ] Service and Repair
- Disconnect brake pedal from brake booster => [ Brake Pedal and Brake Booster, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Brake Pedal and Brake Booster, Disconnecting and Connecting
• If possible, leave the brake pedal stop installed; it could break the mount for the brake lamp switch if the brake pedal is released too quickly.
- Remove the bolt - 3 -.
• Remove both clips - 1 -.
- Remove both clips from the bolt.
- Remove the bolt - 5 - from the brake pedal - 2 - and bracket - 4 -.
- Remove brake pedal.
If possible, leave the brake pedal stop installed; it could break the mount for the brake lamp switch if the brake pedal is released too quickly.
Installing
- Install the brake pedal in the pedal bracket.
- Remove the bolt - 5 - through the brake pedal - 2 - and bracket - 4 -.
- Install both clips - 1 - on the bolt.
• Make sure the left and right clips - 1 - fit securely inside the groove on the bolt.
- Install the bolt - 3 - and tighten to 8 Nm.
Brake Pedal and Brake Booster, Connecting
- Hold ball head of push rod in front of mounting and push brake pedal in direction of brake booster, so the ball head locates audibly.
- Install the brake lamp switch. Refer to => [ Brake Lamp Switch ] Service and Repair.
- Install the footwell vent - E -.
- Install and tighten the bolt - D -.
- Connect the connector - A - to the left footwell vent temperature sensor - B -.
- Install the storage compartment under the instrument panel on the driver side.
• Make sure the brake lamp switch is working correctly before driving the vehicle.
• Make sure the brakes are working correctly before driving the vehicle for the first time.
