Coolant Shut-Off Valve (N82)

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Hose Clamps Up To Diameter 25 mm (3094)

Hose Clip Pliers (VAS 6340) (or Spring Type Clip Pliers (VAS 5024/) )

Removing

- Switch off the ignition.

- Remove the plenum chamber cover and fresh air intake, refer to => [ Fresh Air Intake ] Service and Repair and

- Label the arrangement of coolant hoses - C - and - D - at the coolant shut-off valve - A -.

This figure shows the arrangement of the Coolant recirculation pump and the coolant shut-off valve in a vehicle with an 8-cylinder FSI engine. Depending on the vehicle equipment, the arrangement of the Coolant recirculation pump (V50) and coolant shut-off valve (or Heater coolant shut-off valve (N279) ) may deviate.

Pay attention to the correct arrangement of coolant hoses - C - and - D - at the coolant shut-off valve - A -

If the coolant hoses are interchanged, there may be no heating in the passenger compartment.

- Release the pressure in the coolant circuit by opening the cap on the coolant expansion tank.

- Cover the area under the coolant shut-off valve - A - with an absorbent rag or absorbent paper.

- Disconnect coolant hoses - C - and - D - in the area of the coolant shut-off valve - A - (for example with (3094) ).

- Loosen the hose clamps and remove the coolant hoses from coolant shut-off valve - A -.

- Disconnect connector - B -.

- Remove securing bolts - F - from the coolant shut-off valve - A -.

- Coolant shut-off valve. Remove - A -.

Installing

Installation is carried out in the reverse order while observing the following.

- Install coolant hoses - C - and - D - in a flush-mounted manner.

The coolant flow direction is labeled on the coolant shut-off valve.

Pay attention to the correct arrangement of coolant hoses - C - and - D - at the coolant shut-off valve - A -

Interchanged or crushed coolant hoses can result in failure of the passenger compartment heater due to the incorrect coolant flow direction or insufficient coolant flow quantity.

- Bleed the coolant circuit while observing the relevant instructions, refer to => [ Coolant Circuit, Bleeding ] Coolant Circuit, Bleeding.

- If necessary, check the activation and function of the coolant shut-off valve using Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding" function.

- Install the remaining removed components.
