Rear Cigarette Lighter or 12 Volt Socket

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Release Tool (T40148)

- Remove the cigarette lighter and the 12 volt socket from right to left (as seen in the direction of travel).

• If the left 12 volt socket is faulty, then the cigarette lighter and the right 12 volt socket must be removed.

• If the cigarette lighter is faulty, then the right 12 volt socket must be removed.

Removing






- Remove the rear storage compartment inside the center console.

- Unlock the mount - 3 - for the cigarette lighter/12 volt socket by the retaining tabs - 6 - using a narrow screwdriver - 5 -.

- Open the mount so that the turn release - 1 - and be removed from the storage compartment - 4 -.

• The flat surfaces - arrow - must be opposite the narrow opening - 2 -.

- Guide the electric wires out of the storage compartment.

- The release tabs - 2 - on the release tool (T40148) must engage in the openings in the cigarette lighter/12 volt socket - 3 - - arrow - and the threaded pin - 1 - must slide down as far as the stop.






- Remove the blind cover - 3 -.






- Slide the (T40148) as far as the stop into the cigarette lighter/12 volt socket - 1 -.

- Rotate the thumbwheel - 2 - on the (T40148) clockwise as far as the stop.

• The piston - 2 - is pulled upward and the release tabs - 1 - on the (T40148) spread - arrows -.






- Remove the cigarette lighter/12 volt socket from the illumination ring with bulb using the (T40148).

- Open the clips - arrows -.






- Remove the cigarette lighter/12 volt socket with the illumination ring - 1 - from the mount - 2 -.

Installing

Risk of injury.

• After removing the (T40148) , check to see if the lighter retaining tabs are bent.

• If the retaining tabs are bend, bend them back so the lighter does not slide out.








Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

- Remove the support - 1 - on the (T40148).

- Slide the piston down and hold it in place.

- Rotate the thumbwheel - 4 - on the (T40148) counterclockwise - arrow -. This loosens the release tabs - 2 - on the cigarette lighter - 3 - so the (T40148) can be removed.

- Install the rear storage compartment into the center console.
