Rear Cigarette Lighter, Vehicles with Storage Compartment

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Release Tool (T40148)

Removing






- Remove the rear storage compartment inside the center console.

- Push the threaded rod - 1 - all the way down. The locking tongues - 2 - on the removal tool (T40148) must lock into the opening in the rear cigarette lighter - 3 - - arrow -

- Cut the cable tie - 3 -.






- Open the cover - 1 - for the 12 volt socket.

- Slide the (T40148) into the rear cigarette lighter - 4 - as far as the stop.

- Rotate the thumbwheel - 2 - on the (T40148) clockwise as far as the stop.

The piston - 2 - is pulled upward and the release tabs - 1 - on the (T40148) spread - arrows -.






- Remove the rear cigarette lighter using the (T40148) from the Cigarette lighter illumination (L32).

- Open the clips - arrows -.






- Remove the rear cigarette lighter and illumination ring - 1 - from the mount - 2 -.

- Guide the wire through the bracket - arrow -.






Installing

Risk of injury.

After removing the (T40148) , check to see if the lighter retaining tabs are bent.

If the retaining tabs are bend, bend them back so the lighter does not slide out.








Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

- Remove the support - 1 - on the (T40148).

- Slide the piston down and hold it in place.

- Rotate the thumbwheel - 4 - on the (T40148) counterclockwise - arrow -. This loosens the release tabs - 2 - on the 12 volt socket- 3 - so the (T40148) can be removed.

- Install the rear storage compartment into the center console.
