Wiper Motor: Service and Repair

Windshield Wiper Motor (V) with Wiper Motor Control Module (J400)

Removing






- Remove the windshield wiper arms. Refer to => [ Windshield Wiper Arms ] Removal and Replacement.

Danger of damaging the plenum chamber cover.

• Coat the space between the windshield and the plenum chamber cover with some soapy water.

- Remove the seal - 1 -.

- Carefully remove the plenum chamber cover - 2 - starting at the edge of the glass vertically from the windshield - arrows B -.

- Disengage the plenum chamber cover on the outside of the cover - 3 -. To do this, lift the cover in the center and disengage it from the guides - 4 -.

- Remove the bolts - arrows -.






- Lift the mount - 2 - and remove the outer plenum chamber cover - 1 -.

- Disconnect the electrical connector - 4 -.






- Remove the bolts - 1, 5 and 6 -.

- Remove the windshield wiper frame - 3 - with the linkage and windshield wiper motor to the left and then remove them forward from the plenum chamber - arrow -.

• Move the chafe protection - 2 - for the refrigerant line as far as possible to the right.

• The windshield wiper frame must be guided out in front of the gas-filled strut - 7 -.

Installing

• Tightening specification. Refer to=> [ Windshield Wiper Motor, Tightening Specifications and Sequence ] Windshield Wiper System Overview.

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

- Install the windshield wiper motor and the windshield wiper frame.

- Tighten bolts. Refer to=> [ Windshield Wiper Motor, Tightening Specifications and Sequence ] Windshield Wiper System Overview.

- Install the mount for the seal and the plenum chamber cover.

- Adjust the windshield wiper arms. Refer to => [ Windshield Wiper Arms, Adjusting ] Adjustments.
