Fluid Pan: Service and Repair






Automatic Transmission Fluid Oil Pan

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Assembly Pin (T40199)

Removing

Clean working conditions for the automatic transmission, refer to => [ Clean Working Conditions ] Clean Working Conditions.

General repair instructions, refer to => [ Repair Information ] Repair Information.

- Remove the tunnel crossmember. Refer to => [ Tunnel Crossmember ] Tunnel Crossmember.

- Remove the nut - 1 - from the power steering hydraulic line.







The suspension components could be damaged.

Do not rest the vehicle on its wheels if the subframe mount, the steering gear or the subframe crossbrace are not installed correctly.

Do not support the vehicle on the subframe or the subframe crossbrace (for example with a trolley jack or similar equipment).

- Remove the bolts - arrows - and remove the subframe crossbrace.

- Drain the ATF - arrow -. Refer to => [ ATF, Draining or Filling after Repair ] ATF, Draining or Filling After Repair.






- Remove the bolts from the ATF pan opposite the tightening sequence: - 13 to 1 -.

- Remove the ATF oil pan.

Installing

Install in reverse order, paying attention to the following:

For the correct tightening specifications, refer to => [ ATF Pan, ATF Strainer and Mechatronic Overview ] Description and Operation.

Replace the seal.

Replace the ATF pan bolts.

With high mileage vehicles, replace the ATF strainer when the ATF pan is removed. Refer to => [ ATF Strainer ] Service and Repair. Otherwise the ATF strainer must be replaced only if it is damaged.

- Clean all magnets in the ATF oil pan. Make sure the magnets are in full contact with the ATF oil pan.

- Clean the sealing surface from all sealant residue.

- Install the (T40199) in locations - 10, 11, 12, and 13 - with the ATF pan removed.

The (T40199) center the gasket and the ATF oil pan. This makes sure the ATF oil pan is sealed correctly.

- Install the new gasket and ATF oil pan over the (T40199).

- Tighten the new ATF oil pan bolts in the following sequence: - 1 to 9 -.

- Remove the (T40199).

- Install the remaining bolts in sequence - 10, 11, 12, and 13 -.

- Install the subframe crossbrace.

- Install tunnel crossmember. Refer to => [ Tunnel Crossmember ] Tunnel Crossmember.

- Fill the ATF. Refer to => [ ATF, Draining or Filling after Repair ] ATF, Draining or Filling After Repair.
