Instrument Panel Carrier Replacement
Removal Procedure
1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in SIR.
2. Remove the right closeout panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Right Side (Closeout/Insulator Panel Replacement - Right).
3. Remove the left closeout panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side (Service and Repair).
4. Remove the steering column from the vehicle. Refer to Steering Column Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column-Tilt.
5. Remove the left front assist handle screws.
6. Remove the left front assist handle.
7. Remove the right front assist handle screws.
8. Remove the right front assist handle.
9. Remove the windshield pillar moldings. Refer to Windshield Garnish Molding Replacement (Windshield Garnish Molding Replacement) in Stationary Windows.
10. Remove the passenger side SIR module. Refer to Instrument Panel Inflatable Restraint Module Replacement in SIR.
11. Remove the center console. Refer to Console Replacement (Service and Repair).
12. Remove the center console air duct screw.
13. Remove the center console air duct.
14. Remove the climate control head. Refer to HVAC Control Module Replacement in HVAC Systems-Automatic.
15. Remove the center air outlet deflector.
16. Remove the center air outlet screws.
17. Remove the headlamp switch. Refer to Headlamp Switch Replacement in Lighting Systems.
18. Remove the driver's side air outlet deflector.
19. Remove the driver's side air deflector housing screws.
20. Remove the driver's side air deflector housing.
21. Remove the driver's side lower outlet duct.
22. Remove the instrument cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement (Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) - Replacement).
23. Remove the fuse and relay panels screws.
24. Remove the fuse and relay panels from the IP.
25. Remove the steering column support bracket nut.
26. Remove the steering column support bracket bolt.
27. Remove the IP carrier bolts left side.
28. Remove the IP carrier bolts right side.
29. Remove the sun load sensor (2) from the IP carrier. Refer to Sun Load Temperature Sensor Replacement in HVAC Systems-Automatic.
30. Remove the wiring harness connectors from the IP carrier (headlamp switch, instrument cluster, and sun load sensor).
Important: The wiring harness cannot be removed with the carrier.
31. Remove the wiring harness clips from the IP carrier.
32. Remove the IP carrier from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the IP carrier into the mounting position.
2. Install the wiring harness clips to the IP carrier.
3. Install the wiring harness connectors to the IP carrier (headlamp switch, instrument cluster, and sun load sensor).
4. Install the sun load sensor (2) to the IP carrier. Refer to Sun Load Temperature Sensor Replacement in HVAC Systems-Automatic.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
5. Install the IP carrier bolts left side.
Tighten the bolts to 22 Nm (16 lb ft).
6. Install the IP carrier bolts right side.
Tighten the bolts to 22 Nm (16 lb ft).
7. Install the steering column support bracket bolt.
Tighten the steering column support bracket bolt to 22 Nm (16 lb ft).
8. Install the steering column support bracket nut.
Tighten the steering column support bracket nut to 22 Nm (16 lb ft).
9. Install the fuse and the relay panels to the IP.
10. Install the fuse and the relay panel screws.
Tighten the fuse and relay panel screws to 2 Nm (18 lb in).
11. Install the instrument cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement (Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) - Replacement).
12. Install the driver's side outlet duct.
13. Install the driver's side air deflector outlet housing.
14. Install the driver's side air deflector outlet housing screw.
Tighten the drivers air deflector housing screws to 2 Nm (18 lb in).
15. Install the driver side air outlet deflector.
16. Install the driver side access panel.
17. Install the headlamp switch. Refer to Headlamp Switch Replacement in Lighting System.
18. Install the climate control head. Refer to HVAC Control Module Replacement in HVAC Systems-Automatic.
19. Install the center console air duct.
20. Install the center console air duct screw.
Tighten the center console air duct screws to 2 Nm (18 lb in).
21. Install the center console. Refer to Console Replacement (Service and Repair).
22. Install the passenger side SIR module. Refer to Instrument Panel Inflatable Restraint Module Replacement in SIR.
23. Install the passenger side air outlet duct.
24. Install the passenger side air deflector housing.
25. Install the passenger side air deflector housing screw.
Tighten the housing screws to 2 Nm (18 lb in).
26. Install the passenger side IP access panel.
27. Install the windshield pillar moldings. Refer to Windshield Garnish Molding Replacement (Windshield Garnish Molding Replacement) in Stationary Windows.
28. Install the right front assist handle.
29. Install the right front assist handle screws.
Tighten the right front assist handle to 3 Nm (27 lb in).
30. Install the left front assist handle.
31. Install the left front assist handle screws.
Tighten the left front assist handle screws to 3 Nm (27 lb in).
32. Install the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column.
33. Install the right closeout panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Right Side (Closeout/Insulator Panel Replacement - Right).
34. Install the left closeout panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side (Service and Repair).
35. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in SIR.
