Hydraulic Brake Booster Pump: Service and Repair




Power Brake Booster Auxiliary Pump Replacement

Removal Procedure




1. Remove the air cleaner inlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Inlet Duct Replacement (Service and Repair).
2. Release the vacuum brake booster hose quick connect (1).
3. Disconnect the vacuum brake booster hose from the auxiliary pump.
4. Disconnect the auxiliary pump electrical connector.




5. Remove the auxiliary pump bracket nut (1).




6. Remove the auxiliary pump bracket bolt (1).
7. Remove the auxiliary pump from the engine.




8. Remove the auxiliary pump assembly bolts (1) and nuts (2).




9. Remove the auxiliary pump insulator sleeves (1).
10. Remove the auxiliary pump insulators (2).
11. Release the auxiliary pump electrical harness connector (3) from the bracket and remove the pump.

Installation Procedure




1. Assemble the auxiliary pump sleeves (1) to the insulators (2).
2. Install the auxiliary pump insulators.
3. Position the auxiliary pump to the bracket and secure the electrical harness connector (3).





Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

4. Install the auxiliary pump assembly bolts (1) and nuts (2) and tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb in).




5. Install the auxiliary pump assembly to the engine.
6. Install the auxiliary pump assembly bracket bolt (1) and tighten to 22 Nm (16 lb ft).




7. Install the auxiliary pump assembly bracket nut (1) and tighten to 70 Nm (52 lb ft).




8. Connect the auxiliary pump assembly electrical connector.
9. Connect the vacuum brake booster hose from the auxiliary pump.
10. Install the vacuum brake booster hose quick connect (1).
11. Install the air cleaner inlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Inlet Duct Replacement (Service and Repair).
