Radio, Stereo, and Compact Disc: Description and Operation

RADIO POWER SUPPLY
The electronically tuned Radio receives power from the Radio Fuse and CKT 43 when the Ignition Switch is in "RUN" or "ACCY". The clock and memory circuits receive power from the ELEC Fuse and CKT 340 at all times. The Radio is grounded through CKT 150 and CKT 153. When the Ignition is in "RUN" or "ACCY", the vacuum fluorescent display illuminates to display the time or Radio frequency setting. When the Radio ON/OFF Switch is switched "ON," voltage is applied to the internal circuitry and to CKT 143 and the Amplifier, if equipped.

RADIO ILLUMINATION
The Radio illumination is controlled by the Instrument Panel Lamp Dimmer. When the Headlight Switch in in "PARK" or "HEAD," voltage is applied through the Dimmer Control and CKT 8 and CKT 230 to the Radio panel light and the internal circuitry. When the Headlight Switch is switched to "PARK" or "HEAD," voltage is applied through CKT 9 to the Radio, signaling the internal circuitry to adjust the brightness of the vacuum fluorescent display to a level determined by the voltage of CKT 230.

AMPLIFIER
The Amplifier, if equipped, receives power at all times through the ELEC Fuse and CKT 340, and is grounded through CKT 153. A voltage signal is provided through CKT 143 whenever the Radio is "ON," turning the Amplifier "ON." The Amplifier receives signals from the Radio and sends amplified signals to the speakers.
