DTC 50
DTC 50:
System Voltage Circuit.:
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
CKT 539 is the ignition feed to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) on terminals "B30" and "D3". The PCM monitors the voltage at terminal "D3". When voltage on "D3" drops below 8.0 volts, DTC 50 will set and the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) will be illuminated.
DTC 50 WILL SET WHEN:
The engine is running and the PCM senses a voltage of less than 8.0 volts on PCM terminal "D3".
ACTION TAKEN (PCM will default to):
A High idle, and 3rd gear starts. The Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) will illuminate.
DTC CHART TEST DESCRIPTION
Number(s) below refer to circled number(s) on the diagnostic chart.
1. Normal battery output is between 9.6 - 16.0 volts.
2. Checks to see if the low voltage reading is due to the generator. With engine running, check voltage at the battery.
3. Checks to see if generator is Faulty under load condition. If the voltage is below 8.0 volts, refer to Charging System.
DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
An open circuit, or extremely low voltage (below 5.5 volts) to "D3" may cause loss of serial data and the MIL may not function. Additional DTCs may be set. An Open circuit to "B30" will cause a no start and the MIL will not illuminate.
