A Important Preliminary Checks

Before using the symptom tables:
^ Perform A Powertrain On Board Diagnostic (OBD) System Check and verity all of the following items:
- The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) and Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) are operating correctly.
- There are no DTCs stored.
- Scan tool data is within normal operating range, refer to Scan Tool Data List
^ Verify the customer complaint.
^ Perform the visual and physical inspection. Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview

Locate the correct symptom in the list. Follow the procedures in the appropriate diagnostic table. If the problem can not be duplicated, also refer to Intermittent Conditions. Intermittent Conditions
