Trim Plate Bezel Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Cluster (Monte Carlo)
Removal Procedure
1. Adjust the steering wheel for access.
2. Using a small flat-bladed tool, remove the bezel from the ignition switch cylinder.
3. Remove the access cover from the left IP fuse block.
4. Remove the steering column filler.
5. Open the IP compartment door.
6. Remove the screw from the left side of the IP cluster trim plate.
7. Remove the screw from the right side of the IP cluster trim plate.
8. If the vehicle is equipped with a front floor console, position the transaxle shift control lever to the rear most position.
9. Remove the trim plate starting at the right side of the IP cluster and pulling rearward, continuing until all of the retainers are released.
10. Disconnect the electrical connector from the hazard switch.
Important: Moderately twist the left side of the IP cluster trim plate in order to clear the cluster area from the instrument panel.
11. Remove the IP cluster trim plate.
Installation Procedure
Important: Moderately twist the left side of the instrument panel (IP) cluster trim plate in order to clear the cluster area from the instrument panel.
1. Position the IP cluster trim plate to the IP trim pad.
2. Connect the electrical connector to the hazard switch.
3. Align the IP cluster trim plate retainers to the slots in the instrument panel.
4. Install the IP cluster trim plate by pressing into place until the retainers are fully seated.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
5. Install the screw to the right side of the IP cluster trim plate.
Tighten the screw to 2 N.m (18 lb in).
6. Install the screw to the left side of the IP cluster trim plate.
Tighten the screw to 2 N.m (18 lb in).
7. Close the IP compartment door.
8. Install the access cover to the left IP fuse block.
9. Install the steering column filler.
10. Position the bezel retainers to the tabs on the ignition switch cylinder.
11. Install the bezel to the ignition switch cylinder by pressing into place until fully seated.
12. If the vehicle is equipped with a front floor console, position the transaxle shift control lever to PARK position.
13. Reposition the steering wheel to the original position.
