Intake Manifold: Service and Repair




Intake Manifold Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Primary) Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Primary)Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Auxiliary) Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Auxiliary).

2. Remove the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement.

3. Remove the air inlet grille panel. Refer to Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement (Lower Panel) Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement (Lower Panel)Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement (Upper Panel) Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement (Upper Panel).





4. Remove the fuel pipe shield (2). Refer to Fuel Pipe Shield Replacement Fuel Pipe Shield Replacement.

5. Disconnect the manifold absolute pressure sensor (1).

6. Disconnect the brake booster vacuum hose (3) from the intake manifold.

7. Disconnect the throttle body electrical connector (4).

Note:
Turn the positive crankcase ventilation (PVC) tube connector 90 degrees to release the connector.

8. Disconnect the PCV hose (5) from the intake manifold.

9. Disconnect the evaporative emission canister purge solenoid valve (6) hose.

10. Disconnect the engine wiring harness connector from the emission canister purge solenoid valve.





11. Remove the intake manifold bolts (1).

12. Remove the intake manifold from the engine.





13. Remove and discard the intake manifold gasket (1).

14. If replacing the intake manifold, disassemble the intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Disassemble (LF1, LFW or LFX) 80. Intake Manifold Disassemble.

Installation Procedure

1. If installing a new intake manifold, assemble the intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Assemble (LF1, LFW or LFX) 82. Intake Manifold Assemble.





2. Install the NEW intake manifold gasket (1) to the engine.





3. Install the intake manifold to the engine.

4. Install the intake manifold bolts (1).





Caution:
Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.

5. Tighten the intake manifold bolts to 23Nm (17 lb ft) in the sequence shown.





6. Connect the manifold absolute pressure sensor (1).

7. Connect the brake booster vacuum hose (3) to the intake manifold.

8. Connect the throttle body electrical connector (4).

9. Install the fuel pipe shield (2). Refer to Fuel Pipe Shield Replacement Fuel Pipe Shield Replacement.

Note:
Turn the positive crankcase ventilation (PVC) tube connector 90 degrees to install the connector.

10. Connect the PCV hose (5) from the intake manifold.

11. Connect the evaporative emission canister purge solenoid valve (6) hose.

12. Connect the engine wiring harness connector from the emission canister purge solenoid valve.

13. Connect the engine wiring harness connector (5) to the EVAP emission canister purge solenoid valve.

14. Install the air inlet grille panel. Refer to Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement (Lower Panel) Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement (Lower Panel)Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement (Upper Panel) Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement (Upper Panel)

15. Install the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement.

16. Connect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Primary) Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Primary)Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Auxiliary) Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Auxiliary).
