Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement

Removal Procedure





Note:
Use a six-point socket to remove the oil filter adaptor cap (1).

1. Remove the oil filter adapter cap (1) with the oil filter cartridge (2) from the engine oil filter adapter (3).

2. Remove the oil filter cartridge (2) from the oil filter adaptor cap (1).

Discard the oil filter cartridge (2).

Discard the oil filter adaptor cap O-ring.

3. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair.





4. Remove the engine splash shield (2).





5. Place a suitable container below the oil pan drain plug (1).

6. Remove the oil pan drain plug (1) from the oil pan (2).

7. Allow all the oil to drain.

Remove and discard the oil pan drain plug seal.

Installation Procedure





Caution:
Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.

1. Install a NEW oil pan drain plug seal to the oil pan drain plug (1).

2. Install the oil pan drain plug (1) to the oil pan (2) and tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).





3. Install the engine splash shield (2).

4. Lower the vehicle.





5. Install a NEW oil filter adaptor cap O-ring to the oil filter adaptor cap.

6. Lubricate the oil filter cap O-ring and threads with clean engine oil.





7. Install the NEW oil filter cartridge (2) to the oil filter adaptor cap (1).

Note:
Use a six-point socket to install the oil filter adaptor cap.

8. Install the oil filter adaptor cap (1) with the oil filter cartridge (2) to the engine oil filter adapter (3) and tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).

9. Fill the engine with the correct oil type. Refer to Fluid and Lubricant Recommendations Specifications.

10. Inspect for leaks.
