Receiver and Dehydrator Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the air filter assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement Service and Repair.

Warning:
Refer to Safety Glasses Warning Safety Glasses Warning.


2. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.





Note:
Remove the upper radiator support brackets by raising the securing lock upwards 10 mm and slide the bracket out of the radiator slide pin.

3. Remove the upper radiator support brackets (1).





Note:
Gently push the radiator and condenser towards the engine to allow removal of the plastic screw cap (1) on the right side of the condenser (5).

4. Remove the receiver dehydrator plastic screw cap (1) from the condenser (5).

Note:
The circlip (2) cannot be removed if any gas pressure is present in A/C system.

Note:
To gain adequate clearance for removal of the circlip (2), use a suitable tool to gently tap the receiver dehydrator bottle plug (3) downwards.

5. Remove the circlip (2).

Note:
Screw a suitable bolt into the threaded hole in the receiver dehydrator bottle plug (3). Pull upwards on the bolt to remove the receiver dehydrator bottle plug (3) from the condenser (5).

6. Remove the receiver dehydrator bottle plug (3) from the condenser (5).

Note:
Using a suitable tool, grip the lower lip on the receiver dehydrator cartridge (4) and pull upwards to remove the receiver dehydrator cartridge (4) from the condenser (5).

7. Remove the receiver dehydrator cartridge (4) from the condenser (5).

Installation Procedure





1. Install the receiver dehydrator cartridge (4) into the condenser (5).

Note:
Make sure the receiver dehydrator bottle plug (3) is fitted below the circlip groove.

2. Install the receiver dehydrator bottle plug (3).

Note:
Make sure the circlip (2) is fitted correctly seated in the circlip groove.

3. Install the circlip (2).

4. Install the receiver dehydrator plastic screw cap (1) to the condenser (5).





5. Install the upper radiator support brackets (1).

6. Install the air filter assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement Service and Repair.

Note:
The receiver and dehydrator is a single use only component. A NEW receiver and dehydrator must be installed whenever a closed A/C system is opened or exposed to atmosphere. If the receiver and dehydrator has been replaced following a service/repair and it is deemed necessary to immediately re-open the A/C system it is not necessary to replace the receiver and dehydrator again, providing the A/C system is plugged/capped correctly.

7. Replace the receiver and dehydrator. Refer to Receiver and Dehydrator Replacement.

8. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.

9. Leak test the A/C system using the J 39400.
