Hydraulic Brake Booster Pump: Service and Repair




Power Brake Booster Pump Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. With the engine OFF, apply the brake pedal several times until the brake pedal becomes firm to deplete the vacuum brake booster vacuum reserve.

2. Remove the battery tray. Refer to Battery Tray Replacement Service and Repair.

3. Disconnect the power brake booster pump electrical connector.





4. Disconnect the power brake booster vacuum pipe quick connect (1) from the power brake booster pump.

5. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair.

6. Remove the left front tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation Service and Repair.





7. Remove the power brake booster pump front bracket bolt (1).





8. Disconnect the power brake booster pump vent hose grommet (1).

9. Release the vent hose from the vehicle body.





10. Remove the power brake booster pump bracket bolt (1) and nut (2).

11. Lower the vehicle.

12. Remove the power brake booster pump.

Installation Procedure

1. Install the power brake booster pump.

2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair.





Caution:
Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.

3. Install the power brake booster pump bracket bolt (1) and nut (2) and tighten to 22 Nm (16 lb ft).





4. Install the vent hose to the vehicle body.

5. Connect the power brake booster pump vent hose grommet (1).





6. Install the power brake booster pump front bracket bolt (1) and tighten to 22 Nm (16 lb ft).

7. Install the left front tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation Service and Repair.

8. Lower the vehicle.





9. Connect the power brake booster vacuum pipe quick connect (1) to the power brake booster pump.

10. Connect the power brake booster pump electrical connector.

11. Install the battery tray. Refer to Battery Tray Replacement Service and Repair.
