Water Pump: Service and Repair

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Coolant from the radiator.
2. Serpentine drive belt.
3. Upper fan shroud.
4. Fan and fan clutch assembly.
5. Water pump pulley.
6. Clamps and hoses.
7. Bolts and nut.
8. Water pump.
9. Gasket.

INSPECT
^ All parts and replace as necessary.

CAUTION
^ Be sure all mating surfaces are free of burrs or other imperfections.

INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Gasket in place.
2. Water pump.
3. Bolts and nut.
^ Coat the bolt threads with sealant 1052080 or equivalent.
TIGHTEN
^ Bolts to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.).
^ Nut to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.).
4. Clamps and hoses.
5. Water pump pulley.
6. Fan and tan clutch assembly.
7. Serpentine drive belt.
8. Upper fan shroud.
9. Coolant to the radiator.
^ Start the engine and check for leaks.
