Transmission Air Shift Harness Replacement

Removal Procedure




1. Exhaust all air pressure from the system.
2. Remove the screws from the transmission shift sheath.
3. Slide the sheath down the shift lever.
4. If equipped with the 9 speed transmission, disconnect the following tubes:

* Red tube (1) from the "S" port
* Black tube (2) from the "P" port




5. If equipped with the 10 speed transmission, disconnect the following tubes:

* Blue tube (1) from the "SP" port
* Black tube (2) from the "P" port
* Red tube (3) from the "S" port
* Green tube (4) from the "H" port to "L" port

6. Perform the following steps in order to remove the air shift control lever:

1. Loosen the shift knob lock nut.
2. Unscrew the shift knob.

7. Remove the shift lever sheath.




8. Remove the control lever retainer bolts and retainer.
9. Remove the boot retainer plate bolts and plate, if equipped.
10. Remove the transmission boot bolts and boot.
11. Raise and suitably support the vehicle, if required. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair in General Information.




12. If equipped with the 9 speed transmission, disconnect the following tubes:

* Red tube (1) from the "S" port
* Black tube (2) from the "P" port




13. If equipped with the 10 speed transmission, disconnect the following tubes:

* Green tube (1) from the "H" port to "L" port
* Black tube (2) from the "P" port
* Blue tube (3) from the "SP" port
* Red tube (4) from the "S" port

14. Remove the air shift harness from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure




1. Install the air shift harness to the vehicle.
2. If equipped with the 10 speed transmission, connect the following tubes:

* Green tube (1) to the "H" port to "L" port
* Black tube (2) to the "P" port
* Blue tube (3) to the "SP" port
* Red tube (4) to the "S" port




3. If equipped with the 9 speed transmission, connect the following tubes:

* Red tube (1) to the "S" port
* Black tube (2) to the "P" port

4. Lower the vehicle, if required.





Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

5. Install the transmission boot and bolts.

Tighten the transmission boot bolts to 2 Nm (18 lb in).

6. Install the boot retainer plate and bolts, if equipped.

Tighten the transmission boot retainer plate bolts to 2 Nm (18 lb in).

7. Install the control lever retainer and bolts.

Tighten the transmission control lever retainer bolts to 2 Nm (18 lb in).




8. Install the shift lever sheath.
9. Perform the following steps in order to install the air shift control lever:

1. Screw the shift knob on completely, then back off until the knob or selector button points to the driver side of the cab.
2. Tighten the shift knob lock nut against the shift knob.

Tighten the shift knob lock nut to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).

10. If equipped with the 10 speed transmission, connect the following tubes:

* Blue tube (1) to the "SP" port
* Black tube (2) to the "P" port
* Red tube (3) to the "S" port
* Green tube (4) to the "H" port to "L" port




11. If equipped with the 9 speed transmission, connect the following tubes:

* Red tube (1) to the "S" port
* Black tube (2) to the "P" port

12. Slide the sheath up the shift lever.
13. Install the screws to the transmission shift sheath.

Tighten the control lever sheath screws to 5 Nm (44 lb in).

14. Pressurize the system.
15. Operate the shift control valve to check for leaks.
