Trim Panel Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Upper

Removal Procedure

1. Disable the frontal supplemental inflatable restraint (SIR) system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 3 and to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 5 in SIR.
2. Remove the windshield garnish moldings. Refer to Windshield Upper Garnish Molding Replacement (Windshield Upper Garnish Molding Replacement) .




3. Using a flat-bladed tool, lift up the upper trim pad covers.
4. Remove the bolts holding the upper trim pad to the I/P retainer.




5. Lift the I/P upper trim panel from the vehicle.




6. Disconnect the ambient light sensor from the upper trim pad.
7. Remove the I/P upper trim panel from the vehicle.



Installation Procedure





1. Connect the ambient light sensor to the upper trim pad.




2. Position the I/P upper trim panel in the vehicle. Snap the trim panel into place.





Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

3. Install the bolts to the I/P upper trim panel.

Tighten the bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

4. Insert the bolt caps.
5. Install the windshield garnish moldings. Refer to Windshield Upper Garnish Molding Replacement (Windshield Upper Garnish Molding Replacement) .




6. Connect the ambient light sensor to the upper trim pad.
7. Install the windshield garnish moldings. Refer to Windshield Upper Garnish Molding Replacement (Windshield Upper Garnish Molding Replacement) .
8. Enable the frontal SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 3 and to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 5 in SIR.
