Diagnostic Instructions
* Perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle (Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview) prior to using this diagnostic procedure.
* Review Strategy Based Diagnosis (Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview) for an overview of the diagnostic approach.
* Diagnostic Procedure Instructions (Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview) provides an overview of each diagnostic category.
Circuit/System Description
The driver information switches are normally open momentary switches. Power is provided to the driver information center (DIC) switches via the instrument panel cluster (IPC) ignition 1 voltage circuit. The IPC interfaces with the DIC switches via 4 discreet circuits. Each switch input to the cluster is pulled low or grounded when a switch is activated. The DIC switches include the SET/RESET, MENU, INFO UP, and INFO DOWN switches.

Circuit/System Testing
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the DIC switch assembly.
2. Ignition OFF, test for less than 1 ohm of resistance between the ground circuit terminal 1 and ground.
• If greater than 1 ohm, test the circuit for an open/high resistance.
3. Ignition ON, verify all of the scan tool DIC Switch parameters are Inactive.
• If any are not Inactive, test the appropriate switch signal circuit for a short to ground. If the circuits test normal, replace the IPC
* Set/Reset Switch Signal Circuit Terminal 2
* Menu Switch Signal Circuit Terminal 5
* Info. Up Switch Signal circuit Terminal 7
* Info. Down Switch Signal Circuit Terminal 8
4. Ignition ON, install a 3-amp fused jumper wire between the signal circuits and ground. Verify all of the scan tool DIC Switch parameters are Active.
• If any are not Active, test the appropriate switch signal circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuits test normal, replace the IPC.
5. If all the circuits test normal, test or replace the DIC switch assembly.
Repair Instructions
