OnStar Button Assembly Replacement

Removal Procedure




1. Remove the courtesy lamp lens.
2. Remove the screw near the courtesy lamp.
3. Grasp the overhead console and pull downward in order to disengage the fasteners.
4. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the overhead console.




5. Remove the screws securing the OnStar(R) button assembly (4) to the overhead console.
6. Remove the OnStar(R) Microphone from the OnStar(R) button assembly. Refer to Mobile Telephone Microphone Replacement Service and Repair.

Installation Procedure




1. Install the OnStar(R) Microphone into the OnStar(R) button assembly. Refer to Mobile Telephone Microphone Replacement Service and Repair.
2. Position the OnStar(R) button assembly (4) to the overhead console.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.

3. Install the screws to secure the OnStar(R) button assembly to the overhead console and tighten to 2 Nm (18 lb in).




4. Connect the electrical connectors.
5. Align the overhead console within the vehicle.
6. Press up on the overhead console engaging the fasteners in order to secure the console to the vehicle.
7. Install the overhead console screw and tighten to 2 Nm (18 lb in).
8. Install the courtesy lamp lens.
