Exhaust Manifold Replacement (LLV)

Removal Procedure
Warning: Refer to Exhaust Service Warning Exhaust Service Warning.

1. Remove the exhaust seal. Refer to Exhaust Seal Replacement (LLV/LLR) Service and RepairExhaust Seal Replacement (LH9) Service and Repair.
2. Remove the exhaust manifold heat shield. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Heat Shield Replacement (LLV) Exhaust Manifold Heat Shield ReplacementExhaust Manifold Heat Shield Replacement (LLR) Exhaust Manifold Heat Shield Replacement.
3. Remove the exhaust manifold bolts.




4. Remove the exhaust manifold and the gasket from the engine. Discard the gasket.

Installation Procedure




1. Place a NEW exhaust manifold gasket on to the cylinder head.




2. Position the exhaust manifold to the cylinder head.
3. Apply threadlock GM P/N 12345493 (Canadian P/N 10953488) to the exhaust manifold bolt threads.
4. Install the exhaust manifold bolts.





Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.

5. Tighten the exhaust manifold bolts in sequence to 20 Nm (15 lb ft).
6. Install the exhaust manifold heat shield. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Heat Shield Replacement (LLV) Exhaust Manifold Heat Shield ReplacementExhaust Manifold Heat Shield Replacement (LLR) Exhaust Manifold Heat Shield Replacement.
7. Install the exhaust seal. Refer to Exhaust Seal Replacement (LLV/LLR) Service and RepairExhaust Seal Replacement (LH9) Service and Repair.
