Power Brake Booster Pump Replacement (2.4L)
Removal Procedure
1. With the engine OFF, apply and release the brake pedal several times until the brake pedal becomes firm to deplete the power vacuum brake booster vacuum reserve.
2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair.
3. Disconnect the power brake booster pump hose quick connect (1).
4. Disconnect the power brake booster pump electrical connector.
5. Release the power brake booster pump electrical connector retainer from the pump bracket.
6. Remove the lower 2 power brake booster pump bolts (1).
7. Remove the upper power brake booster pump bolt (1).
8. Remove the power brake booster pump assembly.
9. If removing the power brake booster pump bracket, remove the 2 power brake booster pump nuts and the bracket.
Installation Procedure
1. Inspect the power brake booster pump insulators for damage and replace, if necessary.
2. If removed, install the power brake booster pump to the bracket.
Caution:
Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.
3. Install the 2 power brake booster pump nuts and tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb in).
4. Install the power brake booster pump assembly.
5. Install the upper power brake booster pump bolt (1) and tighten to 22 Nm (16 lb ft).
6. Install the power brake booster pump bolts (1).
7. Tighten the power brake booster pump M8 bolt to 22 Nm (16 lb ft).
8. Tighten the power brake booster pump M10 bolt to 50 Nm (37 lb ft).
9. Connect the power brake booster pump hose quick connect (1).
10. Install the power brake booster pump electrical connector retainer to the pump bracket.
11. Connect the power brake booster pump electrical connector.
