Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.

Test E: The Power Liftgate Chime Is Inoperative

PINPOINT TEST E: THE POWER LIFTGATE CHIME IS INOPERATIVE

Normal Operation
The power liftgate chime is controlled by the liftgate/trunk module (LTM). To activate the chime, the LTM supplies a high frequency voltage output on circuit CPR56 (VT/BN) and ground on circuit RPR56 (GY/VT).

- DTC B236A - Chime output circuit open

If chime output is 0.4VDC less than chime output feedback and voltage is greater than 3.5V, the chime will not be activated and the LTM sets this DTC.

- DTC B2903 - Chime output circuit short to battery

If feedback voltage is greater than 3.3VDC for more than 500ms, chime activation is disabled and the LTM sets this DTC.

- DTC B2940 - Chime output circuit short to ground
If diagnostic feedback voltage is less than 0.9VDC for PWM duty greater than 80%, the LTM sets this DTC.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Chime
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
