Thermostat - 6.0L Diesel









Removal and Installation

1. Drain the cooling system. For additional information, refer to Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding.

2. Remove the 6 pushpin retainers and upper air deflector.





3. Remove the 4 bolts for the power steering reservoir bracket.
- To install the 2 cowl bolts, tighten to 14 Nm (124 lb-in).

- To install the 2 radiator support bolts, tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).





4. Remove the 3 bolts and power steering fluid indicator. Remove the power steering reservoir mounting bracket. Install the power steering fluid indicator and position aside.
- To install, tighten the 3 bolts to 11 Nm (97 lb-in).





5. Disconnect the coolant hoses from the Air Cleaner (ACL) outlet pipe.





6. NOTE: ACL side shown, other side similar.

Loosen the 2 clamps and remove the ACL outlet pipe.





7. NOTE: If there is any oil residue, clean both connecting ports and the inside surface of the Charge Air Cooler (CAC) tube to prevent the tube from blowing off.

Loosen the 2 clamps and remove the CAC tube.

- To install, tighten to 12 Nm (106 lb-in).





8. Disconnect and position the upper radiator hose aside.

9. Remove the nut and position the fuel line retainer aside.





10. Remove the 2 stud bolts, thermostat assembly and discard the O-ring seal.
- To install, tighten to 23 Nm (17 lb-ft).

11. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Install a new O-ring seal on the thermostat assembly.
