Pinpoint Test B: A Single Power Window is Inoperative - LH Front

Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 100, Power Windows for schematic and connector information. Diagrams By Number

Normal Operation

With the ignition switch in the RUN position, voltage is supplied to the LH window control switch from the Central Junction Box (CJB) through circuit 15-AJ1 (GN/BU)/15-AJ7 (GN/BU). All window control switches share a common ground, circuit 31-DA8 (BK). When the LH window control switch is moved to the DOWN position, voltage is supplied to the one-touch down relay coil on circuit 33-AJ16 (YE/BK). The one-touch down relay is switched from ground contact to voltage contact providing voltage to the LH window motor on circuit 32-AJ16 (WH/BK) while ground is provided through the LH window control switch through circuit 32-AJ22 (WH/BK). When the LH window control switch is moved to the UP position, voltage is supplied to the LH window motor on circuit 32-AJ22 (WH/BK) while ground is supplied through the one-touch down relay switch which is in the rest (grounded) position through circuit 32-AJ16 (WH/BK).

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- One-touch down relay
- LH window control switch
- LH window regulator motor

PINPOINT TEST B: A SINGLE WINDOW IS INOPERATIVE - LH FRONT

NOTICE: Use the correct probe adapter(s) from the Flex Probe Kit when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.

-------------------------------------------------
B1 CHECK THE WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH POWER CIRCUIT

- Disconnect: LH Window Control Switch C3293A.
- Ignition ON.
- Measure the voltage between LH window control switch C3293A-2, circuit 15-AJ7 (GN/BU), harness side and ground.

- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?

Yes
GO to B2.

No
VERIFY CJB fuse 166 (25A) is OK. If OK, REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.

If not OK, REFER to the Wiring Diagrams to identify the possible causes of the circuit short. REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation. Diagrams By Number

-------------------------------------------------
B2 CHECK THE WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH GROUND CIRCUITS

- Ignition OFF.
- Measure the resistance between LH window control switch C3293A-3, circuit 31-AJ7A (BK), harness side and ground; and between LH window control switch C3293A-6, circuit 31-AJ7 (BK), harness side and ground.

- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?

Yes
GO to B3.

No
REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.

-------------------------------------------------
B3 CHECK THE LH FRONT WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH

- Carry out the LH front window control switch component test.

- Did the LH front window control switch pass the component test?

Yes
GO to B4.

No
INSTALL a new LH front window control switch. REFER to Window Control Switch Service and Repair. TEST the system for normal operation.

-------------------------------------------------
B4 CHECK FOR VOLTAGE TO THE LH WINDOW MOTOR DOWN CIRCUIT

- Connect: LH Window Control Switch C3293A.
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: LH Window Motor C524.
- Ignition ON.
- Operate the LH window control switch to the DOWN position.
- Measure the voltage between LH window motor C524-1, circuit 32-AJ16 (WH/BK), harness side and ground.

- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?

Yes
GO to B7.

No
GO to B5.

-------------------------------------------------
B5 CHECK THE ONE-TOUCH DOWN RELAY

- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: One-Touch Down Relay C546.
- Carry out the one-touch down relay component test.

- Did the one-touch down relay pass the component test?

Yes
GO to B6.

No
INSTALL a new one-touch down relay. TEST the system for normal operation.

-------------------------------------------------
B6 CHECK CIRCUIT 32-AJ16 (WH/BK) FOR AN OPEN

- Measure the resistance between LH window motor C524-1, circuit 32-AJ16 (WH/BK), harness side and one-touch down relay C546-5, circuit 32-AJ16 (WH/BK), harness side.

- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?

Yes
REPAIR circuit 33-AJ16 (YE/BK) for an open. TEST the system for normal operation.

No
REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.

-------------------------------------------------
B7 CHECK FOR VOLTAGE TO THE LH WINDOW MOTOR UP CIRCUIT

- Operate the LH window control switch to the UP position.
- Measure the voltage between LH window motor C524-2, circuit 32-AJ22 (WH/BK), harness side and ground.

- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?

Yes
INSTALL a new LH window motor. REFER to Window Regulator and Motor - Front Door Window Regulator and Motor - Front Door. TEST the system for normal operation.

No
REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
