Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
DTC Fault Trigger Conditions
Pinpoint Test
NOTICE: When taking measurements at DCSM (Dual Climate Controlled Seat Module) harness connectors, do not insert the electrical probes into the female connector pins. Inserting the probes into connector pins can cause intermittent or open electrical connections after reassembly resulting in DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) and system failure. Touching the tip of these connector pins is recommended instead.
1. CHECK THE DRIVER BACKREST BLOWER FOR AN OBSTRUCTION OR RESTRICTED FILTER
1. Check the driver seat for any obstruction at the TED (Thermo-Electric Device) assembly and for a restricted filter.
Is the filter clean and blower clear of any obstruction?
2. CHECK OPERATION OF THE SEAT AND MONITOR SEAT TEMPERATURE USING THE SCAN TOOL
1. Using the scan tool, view DCSM (Dual Climate Controlled Seat Module) PIDs (Parameter Identifications).
- Driver cushion TED (Thermo-Electric Device) temperature (CSHTEMP)
- Driver back TED (Thermo-Electric Device) temperature (BK_TEMP)
2. Start the engine.
3. Operate the driver seat in high heat or high cool and monitor the seat operation. If a circuit fault is present, the DCSM (Dual Climate Controlled Seat Module) disables the seat.
4. Monitor the driver cushion and backrest temperature PIDs (Parameter Identifications) while the seat is operating. The temperatures should be similar during operation.
Does the seat operate and temperature PIDs (Parameter Identifications) indicate correct operation?
3. CHECK THE DRIVER TED (Thermo-Electric Device) FOR CORRECT INSTALLATION AND FOR A CRUSHED CLIMATE CONTROLLED SEAT MANIFOLD
1. Check the driver TED (Thermo-Electric Device) and climate controlled seat manifold for damage, restriction and for correct installation.
Is the TED (Thermo-Electric Device) correctly installed and the climate controlled seat manifold OK?
4. CHECK THE TED (Thermo-Electric Device) THERMISTOR CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
1. WARNING: Turn the ignition OFF and wait one minute to deplete the backup power supply. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury or death in the event of an accidental deployment.
Ignition OFF.
2. Disconnect: Driver Seat Side Air Bag C3051.
3. Disconnect: Passenger Seat Side Air Bag C339.
4. Disconnect: DCSM (Dual Climate Controlled Seat Module) C3265B.
5. Disconnect: Driver Backrest TED (Thermo-Electric Device) C3034.
6. Measure:
Are the resistances greater than 10,000 ohms?
5. CHECK THE DRIVER TED (Thermo-Electric Device) THERMISTOR CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TOGETHER
1. Measure:
Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms?
6. CHECK THE BLOWER CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN
1. Disconnect: DCSM (Dual Climate Controlled Seat Module) C3265C.
2. Measure:
Are the resistances less than 3 ohms?
7. CHECK FOR SRS (Supplemental Restraint System) DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes)
1. WARNING: Turn the ignition OFF and wait one minute to deplete the backup power supply. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury or death in the event of an accidental deployment.
Ignition OFF.
2. Connect: Driver Seat Side Air Bag C3051.
3. Connect: Passenger Seat Side Air Bag C339.
4. Connect: DCSM (Dual Climate Controlled Seat Module) C3265B and C3265C (if previously disconnected).
5. Connect: Driver Seat Backrest TED (Thermo-Electric Device) C3034 (if previously disconnected).
6. Ignition ON.
7. Using a scan tool, clear the RCM (Restraints Control Module) DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes).
8. Cycle the ignition OFF then ON.
9. Using a scan tool, perform RCM (Restraints Control Module) self-test.
Are any RCM (Restraints Control Module) DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) retrieved during self-test?
