Collision Avoidance and Parking Assist Systems: Description and Operation

Parking Aid

The parking aid system consists of the following:

- Four ultrasonic parking aid sensors (located in the rear bumper)
- Parking Aid Module (PAM) (located above the Central Junction Box (CJB))
- Parking aid speaker - (located on the PAM)

The parking aid system calculates the distance to an object around the rear of the vehicle by the use of 4 ultrasonic sensors. The parking aid system sounds a warning to alert the driver of stationary objects near the rear bumper when reverse is selected.

Video

The rear video camera system consists of the following:

- Video camera (located in the license plate lamp assembly)
- Interior rear view mirror

The image from the video camera is displayed in the left portion of the interior rear view mirror. The video camera system visually aids the driver while reversing or reverse parking the vehicle.
