Pinpoint Test AE: DTC U3003:17
Normal Operation
- DTC U3003:17 (Battery Voltage: Circuit Voltage Above Threshold)- set by the Audio Control Module (ACM), the Accessory Protocol Interface Module (APIM), the audio Digital Signal Processing (DSP) module (if equipped), the Global Positioning System Module (GPSM) (if equipped), the Front Controls Interface Module (FCIM), and the Front Control/Display Interface Module (FCDIM) (if equipped) when the supply voltage is more than 15.8 volts for more than 250 milliseconds during normal operation or the self-test.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Charging system concern
- ACM (Audio Control Module)
- APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module)
- Audio DSP (Digital Signal Processing) module
- GPSM (Global Positioning System Module)
- FCIM (Front Controls Interface Module)
- FCDIM (Front Control/Display Interface Module)
PINPOINT TEST AE : DTC U3003:17
NOTE: DTC U3003:17 may be stored in the module memory due to past battery charging or vehicle jump starting events.
AE1 CHECK FOR HIGH VOLTAGE DTCs SET IN OTHER MODULES
- Ignition ON.
- Retrieve all continuous DTCs from all modules.
Is DTC B1317, B1676, P0563 (PCM), or U3003:17 set in more than one module?
Yes
REFER to Charging System, to diagnose an overcharging condition.
No
GO to AE2.
AE2 CHECK THE BATTERY VOLTAGE
- Turn off all interior/exterior lights and accessories.
- Start and run the engine at approximately 2,000 rpm for 3 minutes while monitoring the battery voltage.
Does the battery voltage rise to 15.5 volts or higher?
Yes
REFER to Charging System, to diagnose an overcharging condition.
No
GO to AE3.
AE3 RECHECK FOR DTC U3003:17
- Ignition OFF.
- Ignition ON.
- Clear the DTCs for the module in question.
- Repeat the self-test.
Is DTC U3003:17 still present?
Yes
For ACM (Audio Control Module) DTC U3003:17, GO to AE4.
For APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module) DTC U3003:17, GO to AE5.
For audio DSP (Digital Signal Processing) module (SONY(R)) or (THX(R)) DTC U3003:17, GO to AE6.
For GPSM (Global Positioning System Module) DTC U3003:17, GO to AE7.
For FCIM (Front Controls Interface Module) DTC U3003:17, GO to AE8.
For FCDIM (Front Control/Display Interface Module) DTC U3003:17, GO to AE9.
No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set previously during battery charging or while jump starting the vehicle.
AE4 CHECK FOR CORRECT ACM (Audio Control Module) OPERATION
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect all the ACM (Audio Control Module) connectors.
- Check for:
- corrosion
- damaged pins
- pushed-out pins
- Connect all the ACM (Audio Control Module) connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
Yes
INSTALL a new ACM (Audio Control Module). REFER to Audio Control Module (ACM) . TEST the system for normal operation.
No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs.
AE5 CHECK FOR CORRECT APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module) OPERATION
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect all the APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module) connectors.
- Check for:
- corrosion
- damaged pins
- pushed-out pins
- Connect all the APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module) connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
Yes
INSTALL a new APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module). REFER to Accessory Protocol Interface Module (APIM) . TEST the system for normal operation.
No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs.
AE6 CHECK FOR CORRECT AUDIO DSP (Digital Signal Processing) MODULE OPERATION
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect all the audio DSP (Digital Signal Processing) module connectors.
- Check for:
- corrosion
- damaged pins
- pushed-out pins
- Connect all the audio DSP (Digital Signal Processing) module connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
Yes
INSTALL a new audio DSP (Digital Signal Processing) module. REFER to Audio Digital Signal Processing (DSP) Module . TEST the system for normal operation.
No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs.
AE7 CHECK FOR CORRECT GPSM (Global Positioning System Module) OPERATION
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect the GPSM (Global Positioning System Module) connector.
- Check for:
- corrosion
- damaged pins
- pushed-out pins
- Connect the GPSM (Global Positioning System Module) connector and make sure it seats correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
Yes
INSTALL a new GPSM (Global Positioning System Module). REFER to Global Positioning System Module (GPSM) . TEST the system for normal operation.
No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs.
AE8 CHECK FOR CORRECT FCIM (Front Controls Interface Module) OPERATION
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect the FCIM (Front Controls Interface Module) module connector.
- Check for:
- corrosion
- damaged pins
- pushed-out pins
- Connect the FCIM (Front Controls Interface Module) module connector and make sure it seats correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
Yes
INSTALL a new FCIM (Front Controls Interface Module). REFER to Front Controls Interface Module (FCIM) . TEST the system for normal operation.
No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs.
AE9 CHECK FOR CORRECT FCDIM (Front Control/Display Interface Module) OPERATION
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect the FCDIM (Front Control/Display Interface Module) connectors.
- Check for:
- corrosion
- damaged pins
- pushed-out pins
- Connect the FCDIM (Front Control/Display Interface Module) connector and make sure it seats correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
Yes
INSTALL a new FCDIM (Front Control/Display Interface Module). REFER to Front Controls/Display Interface Module (FCDIM) . TEST the system for normal operation.
No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs.
