Pinpoint Test U: DTC U0151:00
Information and Entertainment System
Pinpoint Test U: DTC U0151:00
Normal Operation
The Accessory Protocol Interface Module (APIM) receives the air bag deployment notification message from the Restraints Control Module (RCM) via the High Speed Controller Area Network (HS-CAN). The APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module) uses this message to activate the emergency call system.
As other modules outside of the audio system also receive this message, all modules receiving it should exhibit a symptom if the message is missing.
- DTC U0151:00 (Lost Communication With Restraints Control Module: No Sub Type Information)- set by the APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module) when it is missing the air bag deployment notification message from the RCM (Restraints Control Module) over the HS-CAN (High Speed Controller Area Network) for more than 5 seconds with the ignition in the RUN position.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Communication network concern
- Restraints system concern
PINPOINT TEST U : DTC U0151:00
U1 CHECK FOR LOST COMMUNICATION DTCs
- Ignition ON.
- Clear continuous DTCs from all modules.
- Ignition OFF.
- Ignition ON.
- Wait at least 10 seconds.
- Retrieve all continuous DTCs from all modules.
Is DTC U0151:00 set in any modules?
Yes
GO to U2.
No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to an intermittent fault in the network wiring.
U2 CHECK FOR BATTERY VOLTAGE OUT-OF-RANGE DTCs
- Carry out the self-test for the following modules:
- APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module)
- PCM
- RCM (Restraints Control Module)
- Instrument Cluster (IC)
Is DTC U3003:16, or U3003:17 recorded in any module?
Yes
For the APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module), REFER to DTC Charts Accessories and Optional Equipment.
For all other modules, REFER to the Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Chart in Body Control Systems Body Control Systems.
No
GO to U3.
U3 CHECK FOR DTC U0151:00 SET IN MULTIPLE MODULES
- Review the recorded results from the self-test.
Is DTC U0151:00 set in more than one module?
Yes
GO to U4.
No
If there is an observable audio system symptom, GO to Symptom Chart - General Audio System to diagnose the observed symptom Symptom Chart - General Audio System.
If there is an observable restraints system symptom, REFER to Restraints and Safety Systems &/or Air Bag Systems, to diagnose the symptom.
If there is no observable symptom, CHECK the wiring between the APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module) and the RCM (Restraints Control Module) for an intermittent fault.
U4 CHECK FOR CORRECT RCM (Restraints Control Module) OPERATION
- Depower the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS). Refer to Restraints and Safety Systems &/or Air Bag Systems
- Disconnect all the RCM (Restraints Control Module) connectors.
- Check for:
- corrosion
- damaged pins
- pushed-out pins
- Connect all the RCM (Restraints Control Module) connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
- Repower the SRS (Supplemental Restraint System), Refer to Restraints and Safety Systems &/or Air Bag Systems
Is the concern still present?
Yes
INSTALL a new RCM (Restraints Control Module). CLEAR all continuous DTCs. REPEAT the APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module) self-test.
No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR all continuous DTCs. REPEAT the APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module) self-test.
