Pinpoint Test AC: One Or Both DVD Players Are Completely Inoperative
Refer to Wiring Diagrams Set 130, Audio System/Navigation for schematic and connector information. Electrical Diagrams
Normal Operation
Each DVD player displays video from a DVD inserted into that screen. In addition, the source can be changed so that both DVD players display video from the same DVD player. Each DVD player sends video signals to the Rear Entertainment Module (RETM) through a pair of circuits. Based on the source selected, the RETM (Rear Entertainment Module) can send the video data to the other screen.
If there is a fault in the video circuits or in the RETM (Rear Entertainment Module), the video can still operate correctly on the DVD player that is playing the current DVD, but the other screen will be blank when the source is changed to the other DVD player.
- DTC B119D:04 (Single-Disc DVD Player: System Internal Failure)- sets when the RETM (Rear Entertainment Module) detects a fault in the LH DVD player for greater than 15 seconds during normal operation. This DTC can also be set by a connector that is not seated correctly. Make sure all connectors are seated correctly before continuing with the diagnostics.
- DTC B1350:04 (Single-Disc DVD #2: System Internal Failure)- sets when the RETM (Rear Entertainment Module) detects a fault in the RH DVD player for greater than 15 seconds during normal operation. This DTC can also be set by a connector that is not seated correctly. Make sure all connectors are seated correctly before continuing with the diagnostics.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Incorrect customer setting
- Damaged DVD
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- DVD player
- RETM (Rear Entertainment Module)
PINPOINT TEST AC : ONE OR BOTH DVD PLAYERS ARE COMPLETELY INOPERATIVE
NOTICE: Use the correct probe adapter(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.
NOTE: Failure to disconnect the battery when instructed will result in false resistance readings.
NOTE: If the DVD players are removed during this test, it is important to install the DVD players in the original location before completing the repair. The DVD players only function completely correct when they are installed in their original location.
AC1 CHECK THE OPERATION OF EACH DVD PLAYER

- Measure the voltage between the RETM (Rear Entertainment Module), harness side and ground as follows:
Positive Meter Lead Negative Meter Lead C2949A-8 VMR05 (WH) C2949A-6 VMR09 (WH) C2949A-9 VMR19 (WH) C2949A-7 VMR23 (WH)
Is any voltage present?
Yes
REPAIR the circuit in question. CLEAR any DTCs present. TEST the system for normal operation.
No
GO to AC4.
AC4 CHECK THE VIDEO SIGNAL CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN OR SHORT TO GROUND
- Ignition OFF.
- Measure the resistance between the RETM (Rear Entertainment Module), harness side and the DVD player, harness side; and between the RETM (Rear Entertainment Module), harness side and ground as follows:
Positive Meter Lead Negative Meter Lead Circuit C2949A-8 C3370A-2, then ground VMR05 (WH) C2949A-6 C3370B-2, then ground VMR09 (WH) C2949A-9 C3371A-2, then ground VMR19 (WH) C2949A-7 C3371B-2, then ground VMR23 (WH)
Is the resistance less than 5 ohms between the RETM (Rear Entertainment Module) and the DVD player, and greater than 10,000 ohms between the RETM (Rear Entertainment Module) and ground?
Yes
GO to AC9.
No
REPAIR the circuit in question. CLEAR any DTCs present. TEST the system for normal operation.
AC5 ISOLATE THE DVD PLAYER
- Ignition OFF.
