Pinpoint Test AD: No Auxiliary Headphone Audio
Normal Operation
Each DVD player sends wireless audio signals to the headphones. In dual-play mode, the audio to the rear speakers is muted and the DVD players continue to control the rear audio source to the headphones. When the headphones are set to channel A, only the audio sources for the LH DVD player can be accessed. When the headphones are set to channel B, only the audio sources for the RH DVD player can be accessed.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Customer setting
- Headphone batteries
- Headphones
- DVD player
PINPOINT TEST AD : NO AUXILIARY HEADPHONE AUDIO
AD1 CHECK THE HEADPHONE AUDIO
NOTE: For additional information on operating the headphones, refer to the Owner's Literature.
- Ignition ON.
- Turn the suspect headphones on and set them to channel A.
- Insert and play a DVD in the LH DVD player.
- Adjust the volume as necessary, and observe the suspect headphone audio.
- Set the suspect headphones to channel B.
- Insert and play a DVD in the RH DVD player.
- Adjust the volume as necessary, and observe the suspect headphone audio.
Does the headphone audio operate correctly for both channels?
Yes
The system is OK at this time. The concern may have been caused by a customer setting. INSTRUCT the customer in the correct operation of the family entertainment system.
No
If there is no audio for both channels, GO to AD2.
If only one channel has no audio, GO to AD3.
AD2 SUBSTITUTE THE HEADPHONE BATTERIES
- Install new batteries in the suspect headphones.
- Turn the suspect headphones on and set them to channel A.
- Insert and play a DVD in the LH DVD player.
- Adjust the volume as necessary, and observe the suspect headphone audio.
Does the headphone audio operate correctly?
Yes
The concern was caused by inoperative batteries. The system is now operating correctly.
No
REPLACE the headphones. TEST the system for normal operation.
AD3 ISOLATE THE HEADPHONES
- Set the second set of headphones to the suspect channel.
- Insert and play a DVD in the DVD player for the suspect channel.
- Adjust the volume as necessary, and observe the headphone audio.
Does the headphone audio operate correctly?
Yes
REPLACE the suspect headphones. TEST the system for normal operation.
No
INSTALL a new DVD player for the suspect DVD player. REFER to Digital Versatile Disc (DVD) Player . TEST the system for normal operation.
