Pinpoint Test AW: DTC U0151:00

Normal Operation

The Accessory Protocol Interface Module (APIM) receives the emergency call (eCall) notification message from the Restraints Control Module (RCM) via the High Speed Controller Area Network (HS-CAN). The APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module) uses this message to verify the RCM (Restraints Control Module) is configured for the eCall feature and to activate the eCall system when the air bags deploy.

As other modules outside of the audio system also receive this message, all modules receiving it should exhibit a symptom if the message is missing.

- DTC U0151:00 (Lost Communication With Restraints Control Module: No Sub Type Information)- set by the APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module) when it is missing the eCall notification message from the RCM (Restraints Control Module) over the HS-CAN (High Speed Controller Area Network) for greater than 5 seconds with the ignition in the RUN position.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- Communication network concern

- Restraints system concern

PINPOINT TEST AW : DTC U0151:00

AW1 CHECK FOR LOST COMMUNICATION DTCs

- Ignition ON.

- Clear continuous DTCs from all modules.

- Ignition OFF.

- Ignition ON.

- Wait at least 10 seconds.

- Retrieve all continuous DTCs from all modules.

Is DTC U0151 or DTC U0151:00 set in any module?

Yes
GO to AW2.

No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to an intermittent fault in the network wiring.

AW2 CHECK FOR BATTERY VOLTAGE OUT-OF-RANGE DTCs

- Carry out the self-test for the following modules:
- APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module)

- PCM

- RCM (Restraints Control Module)

- Instrument Cluster (IC)

Are low or high voltage DTCs recorded in any module?

Yes
For the APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module), REFER to DTC Charts. Accessories and Optional Equipment

For all other modules, REFER to the Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Chart in Body Control Systems. Body Control Systems

No
GO to AW3.

AW3 CHECK FOR DTC U0151 OR DTC U0151:00 SET IN MULTIPLE MODULES

- Review the recorded results from the self-test.

Is DTC U0151 or DTC U0151:00 set in more than one module?

Yes
GO to AW4.

No
If there is an observable audio system symptom, GO to Symptom Chart - General Audio System to diagnose the observed symptom. Symptom Chart - General Audio System

If there is an observable restraints system symptom, REFER to Seat Belt Systems to diagnose the symptom.

If there is no observable symptom, CHECK the wiring between the APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module) and the RCM (Restraints Control Module) for an intermittent fault.

AW4 CHECK FOR CORRECT RCM (Restraints Control Module) OPERATION

- Disconnect all the RCM (Restraints Control Module) connectors.

- Check for:
- corrosion

- damaged pins

- pushed-out pins

- Connect all the RCM (Restraints Control Module) connectors and make sure they seat correctly.

Is the concern still present?

Yes
INSTALL a new RCM (Restraints Control Module). CLEAR all continuous DTCs. REPEAT the APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module) self-test.

No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR all continuous DTCs. REPEAT the APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module) self-test.
